# Staking, Selection & Slashing

Stake to participate: validators and (optionally) data submitters post collateral (e.g., 100k $MTHX for validators; data submitters can post a smaller bond, e.g., 1,000 $MTHX). These illustrative thresholds are set by governance.

Misbehavior is costly: false computation, chronic downtime, or malicious data can be slashed (partially or fully). Slashed tokens can be burned, rewarded to honest parties, or sent to the treasury per policy.
